Neogram specimen from The Northern Block

A Swiss-rooted neo-grotesque expanded in 2024 to 90 fonts across five widths, from Condensed to Expanded.

About

Originally released in 2012 and referencing Robert Büchler's 1960 Typographie, Neogram has grown into a large working family with a 2024 update introducing SemiCondensed and Wide alongside the existing Normal, Condensed and Expanded widths. Weight distribution has shifted from a mathematical approach to a hand-eye method, intended to produce more visually even results across the full range. OpenType features include circle and squared numbers, directional arrows, tabular figures, fractions, ligatures and case-sensitive forms, with coverage across Western, Southern and Central European languages.

Classification

Explicitly described as a neo-grotesque rooted in Swiss design principles, with an original design reference to Robert Büchler's Typographie (1960), placing it firmly in the Swiss modernist grotesque tradition.
