Maria exists in two variants, Connected and Unconnected, with letterforms shaped by FIDU technology, an experimental process for forming metal objects using air pressure, patented by Zięta. The typeface extends into physical metal letters available for purchase, and the family includes dozens of arrows and pictograms designed specifically for wayfinding applications. The crossover between industrial manufacturing process and type design gives Maria a sculptural, inflated character unlike conventionally drawn display faces.
