Threedotstype · 2019

A 60-page printed exhibition guide exploring the history and cultural significance of arrows and navigation symbols, produced by Threedotstype for the Weltformat Graphic Design Festival in 2019.
About
Published alongside a type specimen focused on arrows, this guide traces the origins of navigation symbols from prehistoric pointing devices to digital cursors, touching on everything from brothel signage to Cupid's iconography. Printed in two Pantone colours on lightweight Stora Enso creamy HiBulk paper at 23 x 12.5 cm, the format was chosen deliberately with international shipping in mind. It is a physical companion to Threedotstype's broader obsession with directional symbols, which inform the navigation glyph sets found across all their typefaces.
Classification
This product is a printed exhibition guide rather than a typeface; it does not fit neatly into any typeface category. Classified as display by necessity of the schema, though it is more accurately a typographic publication.
