Marseille
Tipofili · Louise Fili, Andy Anzollitto, Nick Misani · 2017

A six-weight Art Deco display family derived from Louise Fili's cover lettering for Marguerite Duras's 'The Lover', with extensive OpenType features for crossbar and form variation.
About
Rooted in the lettering Louise Fili created for her iconic book cover design, Marseille brings a refined Art Deco sensibility across six weights from Thin to Bold. Eight stylistic sets allow fine control over crossbar heights, 'e' forms, alternate 'S', dotted 'I' and dieresis treatment, giving the typeface considerable expressive range from understated to ornate. Production was handled by Schriftlabor, with expanded language support added in 2018 covering over 300 Latin-script languages.
Classification
Marseille is a display typeface drawing directly from Art Deco letterform traditions, with characteristic geometric elegance and adjustable crossbar heights that place it firmly outside workhorse text categories.
