A text serif by Jordi Embodas drawing on Times, Baskerville, Garamond and Plantin, with a generous x-height and even grey value suited to body copy at small sizes.

About

Designed in 2010 by Jordi Embodas, Pona is a text family of ten styles spanning Light to Bold with matching italics, complemented by a Display sibling of twelve styles drawn with increased contrast for large-size use. The standard family covers Latin Super Extended with small caps, four figure sets, ligatures and a full suite of OpenType features, making it well provisioned for multilingual editorial work. Pona Display's heightened contrast and refined curves give it a more formal elegance suited to headlines and short title runs.

Classification

Pona draws on a lineage including Times, Baskerville, Garamond and Plantin, placing it firmly in the transitional serif tradition with moderate contrast and a generous x-height suited to text setting.
