Designed to recapture the warmth lost to cold, precise digital and offset printing, Tinta draws on the spirit of Renaissance printmaking without copying specific historical typefaces. Its four subfamilies, Coated, Uncoated, Broken Coated and Broken Uncoated, use variable font technology to mimic how ink behaves on different paper stocks, from crisp coated surfaces to the bleed of uncoated sheets. Six weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, are complemented by a full suite of OpenType features including oldstyle figures, ligatures and proportional and tabular figure sets.
Classification
Described as a serifless roman with classical Renaissance proportions, organic forms, curving contours and flared endings, placing it firmly in the humanist sans tradition despite its lack of serifs.
