STIX Two
Tiro Typeworks · Ross Mills · 2016

A thoroughly redesigned scientific and mathematical typeface commissioned by a consortium of technical publishers, available under an open source licence.
About
Designed by Ross Mills at Tiro Typeworks, STIX Two departs from its Times New Roman clone origins to reference the original 10pt metal Times, producing sturdier forms suited to both print and digital. The Text family offers four weights with italics as variable fonts, while the Math font implements the OpenType MATH table with a massively extended Unicode character set covering alphanumeric styles, operators, and technical symbols. Pan-European Latin, Cyrillic and Greek are covered alongside IPA phonetic characters, making it a thorough choice for scientific and academic publishing.
Classification
STIX Two is a transitional serif, redesigned from a Times New Roman clone to reference the original 10pt metal Times, with more rugged forms suited to scientific and technical text setting.
