Designed by John Hudson and Fiona Ross with italic adaptation by Kaja Słojewska and Paul Hanslow, Tiro Malayalam addresses the typographic needs of the Malayalam script with careful attention to orthographic convention. The family splits into two distinct subfamilies: Tiro Malayalam for traditional orthography and Tiro Malayalam R for reformed orthography, each available in regular and italic. The glyph set is extensive, covering over 1,300 characters including broad Latin Extended support alongside the Malayalam script.
