About
Modernita takes its name from a contraction of Modernised Italian and draws on the exaggerated stroke contrast and heavy slab serifs of the Italian display type tradition. At version 0.1 it ships with 793 glyphs per weight across Light and Black, covering Latin Extended, Cyrillic and Hebrew scripts, with lowercases and additional weights including Regular, Medium and Bold planned for future updates. The Black weight pairs super-heavy slabs and thick feet against thin hairlines for an assertive display presence.
Classification
Modernita is described as a revamp of old Italian types (Modernised Italian), featuring super-heavy slabs, hefty feet and high stroke contrast, placing it firmly in the modern slab or Italienne/Italian style tradition.
