About
Designed by Ariel Martín Pérez and released under the SIL Open Font License, Canarina takes its name from the Canarina canariensis plant native to the Canary Islands. In the absence of a strong local typographic tradition, the design turns to 20th-century graphic and sculptural arts of the archipelago, finding its distinctive wide angles and vernacular character in informalist painting and abstract sculpture. Version 2.0 added new weights, improved Latin language support and refined drawing and spacing throughout.
