Designed by Ariel Martín Pérez and released under the SIL Open Font License, Lobular draws its forms from biological cross-sections and urban bubble lettering, creating dense dark masses on the page where light is caught inside the counters. Flat inktraps serve a purely structural role, defining the counters rather than compensating for ink spread in print. The design is the product of resolving topological constraints, keeping curves and gaps consistent, and at times using those constraints as a prompt for experimental letterforms.
