About
Drawn without curves, Pescante takes its visual cues from letters painted with a flat brush, referencing a piece of lettering on an old warehouse facade in La Gomera. Unusual details appear alongside the geometric rigour: cursive letter forms and dents at inner angles give the design a handmade irregularity that flat geometry alone would not produce. The wide stems and even rhythm are described by the designer as an echo of the davit cranes, decommissioned cargo-loading structures that once served La Gomera's steep, portless coastline.
