Gustella Boxed Arabic
TYPE BY · Thomas Thiemich · 2020

An Arabic extension of Thomas Thiemich's reverse-contrast Gustella Boxed, bringing extreme stroke contrast to both Arabic and Latin scripts across four weights.
About
Released in December 2020 as part of the wider Gustella superfamily, this variant extends the family's defining reverse-contrast treatment to Arabic, covering both scripts with a shared character set. The design sits within a lineage running from nineteenth-century Western 'WANTED' lettering through hippy-era typography, with Thiemich pushing the contrast to contemporary extremes made possible by digital precision. The four weights from Thin to Bold share identical metrics with the other Gustella variants, allowing overprinting across Solid, Stripes, Inline and Boxed versions.
Classification
Gustella Boxed Arabic is a reverse-contrast display typeface with extreme stroke contrast rooted in nineteenth-century Western slab and hippy-era lettering traditions, adapted here for both Latin and Arabic scripts.
