Gustella Solid Arabic
TYPE BY · Thomas Thiemich · 2020

The Arabic extension of Thomas Thiemich's reverse-contrast Gustella Solid, adding Arabic script support across four weights alongside a comprehensive Latin character set.
About
Originally released as part of the Gustella superfamily in May 2019, the Arabic version followed in December 2020, bringing both Latin and Arabic script coverage to Thiemich's extreme reverse-contrast design. The four weights run from Thin to Bold, sharing identical metrics with the other Gustella variants — Stripes, Inline and Boxed — making overprinting possible across the full superfamily. OpenType features include stylistic alternates for specific Latin letterforms, mirrored glyphs, Arabic-specific ligatures, and a Latin figures option for Arabic contexts.
Classification
Gustella Solid Arabic is a reverse-contrast display typeface with extreme stroke contrast, rooted in the tradition of 19th-century slab display lettering and 1970s hippie-influenced high-contrast typography, extended to cover both Latin and Arabic scripts.
