Sansa Arabic specimen from TYPE BY

The Arabic extension of Fred Smeijers's Sansa superfamily, released in 2020 across four weights with full Latin support alongside Arabic script.

About

Part of the broader Sansa superfamily originally designed by Fred Smeijers for his own correspondence and released as a retail design in 2002, the Arabic variant arrived in 2020 alongside Greek and Cyrillic additions. Four weights run from Light to Bold, covering Arabic, Persian and Urdu script forms alongside an extensive Latin character set with small caps, multiple figure styles and comprehensive OpenType features. The parent family spans three widths and five weights with matching italics in its Latin form, giving designers a consistent typographic system across scripts.

Classification

Sansa is a sanserif superfamily by Fred Smeijers with humanist proportions and a warm, characterful voice; the Arabic extension follows the same design principles across its four weights.
