Standing Type specimen from TYPE BY

A stencil-effect display face by Maurice Göldner, drawn from humanist minuscule pen strokes and first shown at a 2012 Antwerp exhibition on the history of the stencil letter.

About

The design takes its rhythm from broad-edged pen calligraphy, with deliberate near-breaks in the strokes that create a stencil appearance without true stencil construction. It draws a direct lineage to typefaces such as Hans Bohn's Allegro (1936) and was released as part of the OurType Stencil Series. Available in a single Normal style with discretionary ligatures and oldstyle figures, it covers an extended Latin character set across a wide range of Western European languages.

Classification

Standing Type is classified as display owing to its stencil-effect construction derived from humanist minuscule calligraphy; the near-break strokes give it a decorative character that limits its use to titling and short-form settings.
