A condensed display typeface by Alja Herlah rooted in Slovenian interwar poster lettering, available in three weights with italics across Latin and Cyrillic.
About
Drawn from the letterings found on Slovenian posters of the interwar period, Wesna brings bold strokes, sharp stroke joints and condensed proportions into a contemporary digital typeface. Three weights from Light to Bold each carry a matching italic, with coverage spanning Latin and Cyrillic scripts. The typeface won the Brumen Biennial award for best in typography in 2024, recognising its work in preserving Slovenian typographic heritage.
Classification
Condensed letterforms with bold strokes, sharp stroke joints and distinctive features drawn from Slovenian interwar poster lettering; the strong personality and historical grounding place it firmly in display rather than text use.
