TT Frantz
TypeType · Vika Usmanova, Ivan Gladkikh · 2019

A narrow display grotesque with a variable axis that shifts the midline height up or down, producing Art Deco-influenced letterforms across three fixed static styles and one variable font.
About
Designed by Vika Usmanova and Ivan Gladkikh at TypeType, TT Frantz uses a single variable axis to raise or lower the waistline of its letters, changing the aperture closure of certain characters as a side effect. The family includes three static styles — A, B and C — each locking the midline in a high, mid or low position, alongside a variable font for continuous adjustment. Suited to packaging, fashion editorial and poster work at medium to large sizes, with support for 165 languages across Latin and Cyrillic scripts.
Classification
A narrow, experimental display grotesque with variable axis controlling midline height, drawing on Art Deco proportions. Its decorative intent and large-size focus place it firmly in the display category.
