TT Severs specimen from TypeType

A geometric sans with Arabic calligraphy-inspired counter junctions that functions credibly at both display and text sizes across 19 styles.

About

The defining feature is the internal bracket shape at the junction of ovals, drawn from traditional Arabic writing, which gives counters an unusually soft and distinctive profile at large sizes. Low stroke contrast and a carefully balanced black-and-white ratio allow those details to recede at small sizes, keeping the font readable in running text. The 2025 update expanded OpenType features to 27, added a variable font with weight and slant axes, and extended language support to over 180 languages across Latin and Cyrillic scripts.

Classification

Described by the foundry variously as geometric and humanist sans serif; the counters are defined by Arabic calligraphy-inspired bracket junctions, placing it firmly in the geometric sans category with humanist detailing at the joins.
