Originally released in 2014 as FF Franziska through FontFont and relaunched via TypeMates in 2024 with a variable font format, this 20-style family spans Hair to Black with individually redrawn italics treated as typefaces in their own right. Asymmetric serifs derived from hand-drawn forms, clipped ball terminals and exaggerated ink traps give it a lively texture that reads well in both print newspapers and screen-heavy editorial contexts. Weights at opposite ends of the range drift into different genres, with hairline styles tending towards monolinear Egyptian and the heaviest weights towards high-contrast Roman.
