Gregory Text specimen from TypeMates

A contemporary slab serif drawing on W. A. Dwiggins' M-formula, built for dense text across 270 languages with spirited italics and deliberate quirks throughout.

About

Seven weights from Thin to xBold, each with a matching italic, give Gregory Text a wide tonal range suited to both micro-text and headlines. Chunky curved serifs, doughy countershapes and sharpened ink-traps give the family its warmth and legibility at small sizes, while the same details read as distinctive at display scale. Greek and Cyrillic characters were drawn by native designers, extending coverage to over 270 languages including Vietnamese.

Classification

Gregory Text reinterprets early slab serif metal type traditions with moderate stroke contrast, chunky softly-curved serifs and square countershapes, drawing on Dwiggins' M-formula for legibility at small sizes.
