Rumiko Clear specimen from TypeMates

A screen-focused humanist sans by Natalie Rauch that pairs open, legible letterforms with calligraphic warmth across six weights and matching italics.

About

Designed by Natalie Rauch and released in 2022, Rumiko Clear is aimed at digital environments where legibility and approachability need to coexist. Its letterforms are slightly more restrained than its companion Rumiko Sans, with characters like R, Y, a and u dialled back for interface and UI work without losing the family's underlying warmth. The playful italics, shared with Rumiko Sans, carry more fluidity and can be used alongside the roman for contrast within a system. Coverage extends to over 200 Latin-script languages and includes a set of emoji, symbols, arrows and dingbats.

Classification

Clean strokes and open structures sit alongside calligraphic influences and a relaxed sense of written movement, placing this firmly in the humanist sans tradition rather than geometric or grotesque.
