Mercè specimen from Typerepublic

A revival of Louis Hoell's 1914 Tages-Antiqua, reworked by Ricard Garcia with greater elegance and contrast while preserving its Art Nouveau proportions.

About

Originally cut for the Flinsch foundry in Offenbach am Main, Tages-Antiqua circulated in Barcelona as Antigua Mercedes and was rooted in the mainstream Art Nouveau styles of early 20th-century Europe. Garcia's revival retains the wide characters and uneven vertical proportions of Hoell's design while introducing a more contrasted, transitional feel across five weights from Light to Black. The family supports an extensive range of Latin-based languages and includes OpenType features such as historical forms, ordinals and slashed zero.

Classification
