About
Designed between 2012 and 2014, Lichtspiele takes its name from the German word for cinemas of the early 20th century and builds out eleven fonts across five distinct styles. Display covers a base upright with two italics offering opposing perspectives, Neon riffs on old cinema signage lettering, Neon Outline and Neon 3D add layering and extrusion, and Screen Credits draws from movie poster liner notes. The dual italic perspectives across three of the styles give the family an unusual spatial quality suited to layered poster and signage work.
