Salvaje Text specimen from Typozon

An unreleased display family by Cristian Vargas, drawn from the visual extravagance of Birds of Paradise native to New Guinea and Australia.

About

Salvaje Text takes its name from the Latin silvaticus, meaning wild or of the woods, and draws its formal inspiration from the elaborate plumage and shape-shifting courtship displays of Birds of Paradise. The family is currently in development with weights and styles yet to be confirmed, though planned licensing covers desktop, web, app and logo use. Latin coverage across Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement and Latin Extended-A is intended for editorial, packaging, book covers and digital applications.

Classification

Described explicitly as a display typeface family; its inspiration in the ornate visual drama of Birds of Paradise suggests a decorative, expressive character suited to headline and editorial use rather than body text.
