Dahlia
VJ Type · Jérémy Schneider · 2021

A display serif by Jérémy Schneider drawing on 1910s Italian lake posters and Art Nouveau, with 93 stylistic ligatures and expressive alternate letterforms.
About
Designed in 2021 for VJ Type, Dahlia pairs high contrast with floral-inspired terminals and counter forms drawn from flower stems, buds and spines. The six styles span three weights in upright and condensed widths, with the Bold leaning into contrast for maximum presence at large sizes. Ninety-three stylistic ligatures and a generous set of alternates give the family considerable expressive range for editorial, packaging and poster work.
Classification
A high-contrast display serif with Art Nouveau ornamental qualities, designed explicitly for headlines and short texts. Its expressive counter forms, stylistic alternates and ligature-heavy character set place it firmly in display rather than text use.
