Eros
VJ Type · Jérémy Schneider · 2022

A display typeface rooted in Jugendstil and Vienna Secession aesthetics, grown from two custom commissions for a Paris theatre and a Pharrell Williams restaurant project.
About
Designed by Jérémy Schneider and released in 2022, Eros merges two previously bespoke typefaces into a single family of six styles across standard and condensed widths. The Condensed variant goes beyond a simple squeeze: its oval O is programmed to adapt contextually depending on whether it sits next to upper or lowercases, adding optical flow to running text. Sixty pairs of ligatures across upper and lowercases, plus a full set of alternates for characters such as v, w, k and y, give the family considerable range for editorial, cultural and luxury brand work.
Classification
Eros is a display typeface drawing on Jugendstil and Vienna Secession aesthetics, with organic letterforms, elaborate ligatures and contextual alternates that place it firmly in the decorative display category rather than text use.
