Jager
VJ Type · Jérémy Schneider · 2020

A craft-inspired display typeface by Jérémy Schneider, with counter forms drawn from engraving, wood-cutting and chisel work.
About
Designed by Jérémy Schneider and released in 2020, Jager began as drawings developed for an exhibition at the Musées des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. The hollowed counter forms recall engraving and sculpture, while angled terminals suggest cuts in wood, with rounded rather than sharp contours throughout. Each weight comes in two versions: Jager Master, the bolder and more angular original, and Jager Classic, in which the open counter tops are filled in for a smoother result.
Classification
Jager is explicitly a display typeface with counter forms inspired by engraving, wood-cutting and chisel work, placing it firmly in the display category with a craft-influenced subcategory distinct from geometric or humanist traditions.
