Kobe
VJ Type · Jérémy Schneider · 2018

A modular geometric sans originally released as a single weight in 2018, expanded in 2021 to six weights with obliques and a rich set of alternates drawing on Japanese letterform shapes.
About
Built on a clean modular structure, Kobe balances functional proportions for text with playful terminals and an unusually steep oblique slant that reads distinctly at display sizes. An extensive set of ligatures and stylistic alternates for both upper and lowercase take visual cues from Japanese writing, giving the typeface a character uncommon in Western geometric sans designs. The 2021 update refined the Regular and introduced Bold and Black weights, each with a matching oblique, broadening the family's range from body copy to headline use.
Classification
Kobe is built on a modular geometric structure with playful terminals and an exaggerated oblique slant, placing it firmly in the geometric sans-serif tradition with a display-leaning personality.
