Traviata specimen from VJ Type

A single-weight display serif designed for the 2017–2018 identity of the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, blending classical structure with geometric details.

About

Designed by Jérémy Schneider of Violaine & Jérémy for a theatrical production identity, it pairs a conventional serif skeleton with unusual details: an elongated apex, extended strokes and a tension between traditional construction and geometric forms. The result is a high-contrast, elegant face suited to poster and headline work, particularly where strong colour is involved. Language support covers a broad range of Latin-script European languages.

Classification

A single-weight display typeface combining classical serif structure with geometric and expressive details; the high contrast, unconventional apex and mixed construction place it firmly in the display serif category rather than a conventional text serif classification.
