Canilari
W Type Foundry · Patricio Truenos · 2014

A post-modern serif by Patricio Truenos drawing on the angular decorative patterns of Diaguita pottery from pre-colonial northern Chile and Argentina.
About
Designed by Patricio Truenos and awarded at Bienal Tipos Latinos 2014, Canilari translates the geometric decorative language of Diaguita ceramics into a high-personality serif family. Four weights with italics plus an ornaments set are offered in two character sets: Std (369 characters) and Pro (710 characters), together covering 219 languages. The angular shapes and consistent texture make it workable across continuous text in publishing contexts and high-impact headline or poster use.
Classification
Described explicitly as a post-modern type family; the angular shapes and high-contrast details place it in a display-oriented contemporary serif category inspired by indigenous decorative motifs.
