Gallos
W Type Foundry · Salvador Rodriguez Diego Aravena

An 18-style type family that fuses Uncial calligraphic tradition with geometric rationalism across two distinct subfamilies, one referencing Paul Renner's Architype models.
About
Gallos splits into two subfamilies, Gallos Uncial and Gallos Architype, differentiated by key letterforms including the 'a', 'r', 'm', 'n' and 'w'. The Uncial subfamily retains closed bowls and classical Uncial curves, while the Architype subfamily opens counters and introduces a stem-and-dot 'r' drawn from Renner's rationalist experiments. Both share curved strokes on the 'e' and 't', Gaelic-inflected 'K' and 'X' forms, and curved descenders that tie the system together across nine weights from Thin to Heavy.
Classification
Gallos is rooted in the Uncial script tradition, blending historical calligraphic letterforms with geometric rationalism and Gaelic influences, placing it firmly in the display category with a specialised uncial subcategory.
