A sans-serif companion to Garton, offered in Ornate and Plain styles across five weights with italics, drawn from a Victorian brewery letter.

About

Designed by Hamish Makgill and Luke Charsley, Garton Sans draws its source material from a letter associated with Garton Brewery, Bristol. The family splits into two distinct styles: Ornate retains curved, softened strokes that echo its decorative origins, while Plain takes a more conventional approach suited to everyday typesetting. Both styles run across five weights from Light to Bold with corresponding italics, and include extensive OpenType features and stylistic alternates.

Classification

A sans-serif companion to a serif with decorative origins, offering both an ornate style with curved, softened strokes and a plainer conventional cut, placing it firmly in the humanist sans tradition.
