Bobine specimen from WiseType

A dot matrix typeface by Arthur Calame built on a star-shaped pixel grid, spanning two weights with italics and a taller inline titling cut.

About

Constructed on a coarse 4-pointed star grid for the regular weight and an 8-pointed star for the bold, Bobine achieves surprising legibility at smaller sizes while reading as distinctly futuristic at large ones. The italic styles are slightly condensed, and both weights include oldstyle figures, extensive diacritics and a broad symbol set. The Titling style stands two units taller than the text cuts, offering a higher effective resolution and two capital form sets: serif uppercase and sans-serif lowercase, plus pictograms and emoji.

Classification

Bobine is constructed on a dot matrix grid using star-shaped units, placing it firmly in the pixel/bitmap display genre. The titling variant's inline capitals and the overall low-resolution aesthetic define it as a display typeface rather than a text or body face.
