Workhorse Nouveau
Workhorse Type Foundry · Adrian Kimball · 2022

A contemporary sans with Art Nouveau characteristics, offering eight weights with obliques and eight stylistic sets to control the degree of period ornamentation.
About
Designed by Adrian Kimball in 2022, it draws selectively from Art Nouveau letterform conventions without the full period excess, giving designers a workable balance between decorative character and broader utility. Eight stylistic sets swap in alternate glyphs such as a minimal G, angled B/P/R, crossed W and a classic ampersand, allowing the Art Nouveau flavour to be increased or reduced per application. Supplied as a variable font with weight and italic axes, plus OpenType support for superscript, subscript and case-sensitive forms across more than 220 languages.
Classification
Designed explicitly as a contemporary take on Art Nouveau letterforms, with decorative alternate characters that dial up or down period-specific traits; its ornamental character and stylistic sets place it firmly in the display category.
