Based on Cecilia Carlstedt's pointed-brush illustration work, Cortado was drawn by Ben Kiel and Jesse Ragan and released in 2014. OpenType programming handles alternating cursive connections, ligatures to avoid collisions, natural stroke endings and subtle shape variations on repeated letters, removing the mechanical repetition that usually betrays digital scripts. The result carries a mid-century confidence suited to branding, packaging and editorial contexts that want warmth without nostalgia.
