Aquawax FX
Zetafonts · Francesco Canovaro · 2022

A reworking of Zetafonts' own Aquawax that swaps inktraps for counter-inktraps, softening corners to produce a distinctly liquid, flowing appearance suited to display and identity work.
About
Designed by Francesco Canovaro and released in 2022, Aquawax FX departs from the 2008 original by introducing counter-inktraps — rounded inner and outer corners that create a watery visual quality while preserving the original terminal cuts. The family spans nine weights from Thin to Heavy with matching italics across two sub-families: the standard Roman and the stencil-influenced Space variant aimed at logos and science-fiction headings. Variable font versions are included with the full family package, and coverage extends to Latin, Greek and Cyrillic across 218 languages.
Classification
Aquawax FX is built on a geometric sans foundation derived from the original Aquawax, distinguished by counter-inktraps and softened contours that give it a fluid, watery character while retaining geometric construction.
