Aragorn
Zetafonts · Francesco Canovaro · 2025

A 24-style Old Style serif by Francesco Canovaro spanning a Display subfamily with high contrast and calligraphic tension and a Text subfamily tuned for extended reading.
About
Designed at Zetafonts with Filippo Sgarlata and Andrea Tartarelli, Aragorn pairs fluid, elongated letterforms and subtle asymmetries with precise detailing across two optical subfamilies. The Display cuts push contrast and stylistic quirks for headlines, titles and brand work, while the Text cuts lower contrast and open the counters for long-form print or screen use. Variable fonts covering both weight and optical size axes are included in the full family package, giving continuous control across all 24 static styles.
Classification
Aragorn roots itself in Old Style heritage with calligraphic rhythm and fluid, elongated forms. The Display subfamily amplifies high contrast and stylistic quirks, while the Text subfamily reduces contrast for extended reading, placing both firmly in the old style serif tradition.
