A reinvention of the 1929 Stunt Roman hand-lettered alphabet, redrawn across eight weights with matching italics and calligraphic details borrowed from Art Deco penmanship.

About

Mario De Libero drew Claus from Ross Frederick George's Stunt Roman, first published in the Speedball Text Book in 1929, adding etched serifs and calligraphic alternates to bring the narrow Old Style forms into contemporary use. The family runs from Thin to Black with a full italic companion added in 2024, plus two variable fonts spanning the weight axis. OpenType features include small caps, discretionary ligatures and stylistic sets, making it suited to editorial layouts, luxury packaging and festive branding.

Classification

Claus is rooted in the Old Style letterforms of the hand-lettered Stunt Roman, redrawn with etched serifs, calligraphic quirks and narrow Art Deco proportions, placing it firmly in the Old Style serif tradition with display characteristics.
