Codec Warm/Cold specimen from Zetafonts

A geometric sans offered in two systematic subfamilies, Codec Cold and Codec Warm, built on the same skeleton but distinguished by terminal treatment and letterform construction.

About

Rather than making arbitrary compromises between geometric rigour and humanist warmth, the designers split the difference into two coherent fonts sharing the same underlying skeleton. Codec Cold cuts terminals parallel or perpendicular to the baseline for a strict, constructed appearance; Codec Warm uses open diagonal cuts and two-storey forms for a gentler texture at text sizes. Both subfamilies span eleven weights from Thin to Fat with matching italics, support 218 languages across Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts, and include Logo variants with active discretionary ligatures and tighter metrics for display and identity work.

Classification

A geometric sans rooted in Futura's constructionist logic, offered in two systematic variants: Cold (strict horizontal/vertical terminals) and Warm (diagonal cuts and two-storey forms), placing it firmly in the geometric sans category with a humanist inflection option.
