Hagrid
Zetafonts · Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini · 2019

A grotesque sans by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini that draws on vernacular and experimental letterform traditions to build a family with genuine typographic personality across display and text cuts.
About
Built on grotesque structure but deliberately inflected with calligraphic counterspaces, inverted contrast and brutalist shapes, it balances oddness and usability across 27 static styles and four variable fonts. Originally a display-only release from 2019, a 2025 expansion added the Hagrid Text subfamily with refined proportions and optimised spacing, plus a new Black style with fully closed counterspaces. Script support spans Extended Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and Arabic, and a Monsters stylistic set transforms individual letters into creature-like forms.
Classification
A grotesque sans that intentionally blends inverted contrast, calligraphic counterspaces and brutalist forms into its structure, making it a quirky but grounded member of the grotesque tradition.
