Maligna specimen from Zetafonts

A low-contrast contemporary serif by Valerio Monopoli, available in six weights with italics and variable fonts, distinguished by its signature truncated lowercase 'g' and floral-thorn serif details.

About

Designed by Rome-based Valerio Monopoli, the family spans six weights from Thin to Bold, each with a matching italic, plus variable upright and italic fonts. Low contrast and a 829-glyph character set covering 207 languages make it workable at small text sizes, while sharp, dimensionless vertices keep it effective at display scale. The signature uppercase 'R', the truncated lowercase 'g' that drops below the baseline, and the pointed serif details give it a recognisable character distinct from conventional text serifs.

Classification

A low-contrast serif with sharp, dimensionless vertices and rounded serif interlocks, designed to function across both display and text settings. The foundry positions it as a contemporary serif with display personality and text readability.
