Marcovaldo specimen from Zetafonts

A condensed wedge serif in seven weights, drawn by Andrea Tartarelli as an extension of the Calvino family and shaped by the Elzevir and DeVinne traditions.

About

Developed as part of Zetafonts' Calvino typographic world, Marcovaldo draws on the high-contrast condensed rhythm of Elzevir and DeVinne printing types. Lighter weights carry tight spacing that evokes vintage editorial setting, while bolder weights open up for a more relaxed texture suited to headlines and book covers. The family includes a variable Roman weight axis and covers 200 languages across 420 glyphs.

Classification

A condensed high-contrast wedge serif with roots in the Elzevir and DeVinne traditions, optimised for display use. The pronounced contrast and wedge-shaped serifs place it firmly within the Latin display serif category.
