Radcliffe specimen from Zetafonts

A 26-style Clarendon revival with a humanist inflection, covering display, text and a quirky reverse-contrast Casual subfamily.

About

Designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Andrea Tartarelli in 2018, Radcliffe reworks the Clarendon model with bracketed serifs, vertical stress and low contrast, softened by calligraphic details most visible in the italics. Radcliffe Text offers a taller x-height and slightly condensed proportions for body copy, while the two-weight Radcliffe Casual introduces a reverse-contrast aesthetic for more playful applications. All cuts include comprehensive OpenType features and coverage for over 200 languages across Latin and Cyrillic scripts.

Classification

Radcliffe is explicitly described as a reinvention of traditional Clarendon design, featuring strong bracketed serifs, vertical stress and low contrast characteristic of the Clarendon subcategory.
