Tarif specimen from Zetafonts

A humanist slab serif with inverted contrast and calligraphic details, designed by Andrea Tartarelli and inspired by the multicultural coexistence of tenth-century Andalusia.

About

Built on a humanist skeleton, Tarif combines extreme inktraps, calligraphic details and an unorthodox slab construction with inverted contrast to produce a design that sits comfortably between display and editorial use. Seven weights from Extralight to Extrabold, each with a matching italic, cover Latin and Cyrillic across 217 languages, with a separate Arabic version developed with Rania Azmi. Variable font axes for both roman and italic weights are included with the full family package.

Classification

Tarif is explicitly described as a slab serif with a humanist skeleton and inverted contrast, mixing calligraphic details with postmodern grotesque letter shapes.
