Sempione Modern specimen from CAST

A Swiss-influenced sanserif by Andrea Amato spanning seven weights with an oblique slanted style, small caps, old-style numerals and ligatures, produced between 2009 and 2019.

About

Drawing on early 20th-century Swiss typographic rationalism, the design favours consistent stroke widths and horizontal terminals rather than calligraphic variation. The family includes a variable font counterpart and an extensive OpenType feature set covering small caps, old-style and tabular figures, discretionary ligatures and alternate letterforms. Its companion, Sempione Grotesk, offers a true cursive italic where Modern's slanted style simply inclines the upright construction unchanged.

Classification

A Latin-script sanserif drawing on Swiss modernist and early 20th-century typographic traditions, with horizontal terminations and rational proportions that align it with humanist and neo-grotesque lineage rather than strict geometric construction.
