Nouveau Grotesque specimen from DDOTT

An early grotesque redrawn with Art Nouveau calligraphic details, swashes and whiplash ornaments, released in five weights with true italics.

About

Originally a corporate commission from 2017, Nouveau Grotesque has been fully redrawn with improved terminals and counters for legibility at text sizes. Five weights from Light to Bold each carry true italics, and a sister family, Nouveau Grande, adds a Black weight with higher contrast for display use. Thirty-five OpenType features include swashes, stylistic sets for individual letterforms, circled and boxed figures, and an extensive ligature set that introduces calligraphic rhythm into running text.

Classification

Built on an early grotesque structure with Art Nouveau calligraphic details grafted onto terminals and counters, placing it firmly in the grotesque sans-serif tradition with expressive decorative overlays.
