ABC Diatype specimen from Dinamo Typefaces

A warm Swiss neo-grotesque named after pre-digital typesetting machines, built out across widths, mono cuts and ten scripts.

About

A Swiss neo-grotesque by Johannes Breyer and Fabian Harb with Elias Hanzer, Erkin Karamemet, Renan Rosatti and Andree Paat, named for the diatype typesetting machines whose mechanics inform its shapes. The system spans five widths from Compressed to Expanded, monospaced and semi-monospaced cuts, and ten scripts including Arabic, Devanagari, Thai, Hangul and Georgian. A workhorse for screen reading where Helvetica feels too cool.

Classification

Dinamo describes Diatype as a warm yet sharp grotesque rooted in the Swiss Neo-grotesque tradition, with shapes informed by pre-digital diatype typesetting machines, available in five weights with italics plus monospaced and semi-monospaced styles and a wide multiscript range.
