ABC Marfa specimen from Dinamo Typefaces

A 28-style American gothic by Dinamo and Seb McLauchlan, with proportional, Semi-Mono and Mono cuts plus small caps and old style figures.

About

An American gothic sans by Fabian Harb and Seb McLauchlan, born in hot metal typesetting and originally drawn as Gothic No. 6 in homage to early American gothic typefaces. Early adopters included Other Means, Dan Solbach, Folder Studio, Eloise Harris and Nea-Kosma, and NODE. The current family runs to 28 styles across proportional Marfa, Marfa Semi-Mono and Marfa Mono, with seven weights and matching italics, plus small caps and old style figures as a nod to late nineteenth-century printing. Sits well in editorial, identity and product work that wants a sturdy, utilitarian voice with an American accent.

Classification

Dinamo describes Marfa as stylistically born in the hot metal typesetting period, an homage to early American gothic typefaces, originally drawn as Gothic No. 6 by Fabian Harb and later extended by Seb McLauchlan into 28 styles with corresponding italics and a mono counterpart.
