ABC Monument Grotesk
Dinamo Typefaces · Kasper-Florio (Larissa Kasper, Rosario Florio) and Dinamo · 2018

A grotesque by Kasper-Florio with Dinamo, drawn from contours in an 1884 Palmer & Rey specimen, with proportional, Semi-Mono and Mono cuts.
About
A grotesque by Swiss studio Kasper-Florio (Larissa Kasper and Rosario Florio) with Dinamo, traced back to contours found in an online scan of Palmer & Rey's 1884 New Specimen Book. Kasper-Florio digitised and reinterpreted the typeface as their house font, and it has been available via Dinamo since 2018. The current family covers eight weights with italics across proportional Monument Grotesk, Monument Grotesk Mono and Monument Grotesk Semi Mono, with a compact skeleton, high vertical contrast and sharp end strokes that read as honest and pleasingly unpolished.
Classification
Dinamo describes Monument Grotesk as a digitisation and reinterpretation of contours found in an online scan of Palmer & Rey's 1884 New Specimen Book, with a compact skeleton, high vertical contrast and surprisingly sharp end strokes, with honest, unrefined and idiosyncratic shapes.
